This kit has been put together as a cost effective performance brake kit for the Mazda MX5 and utilises the high performance, lightweight Wilwood Dynalite caliper which has been tried and tested in every aspect of motorsport.

The kit is supplied with a set of 280mm front discs making this the easiest 4 pot upgrade available on the market. (Please check your disc diameter before ordering, or ask a question below).

The kit comprises of:

1 x pair of new Wilwood Dynalite 4 pot calipers
1 x pair 280mm front discs (plain/grooved/dimpled/drilled for no extra)
1 x pair of fast road pads (Wilwood BP10 compound or equivalent)
1 x pair of custom fabricated Aluminium brackets
1 x pair of longer front braided hoses
All bolts and fittings to fit the kit to your car.

The kit has been tried and tested on several different types of car both on the road and track and has performed flawlessly.

You can download a printable template here to check if the brake kit will fit behind your current wheels. Spacers may be required for OEM wheels.

Type III Mil-Spec hard anodising replaces Type II black anodising as the standard finish on all base and powder coat finish caliper models. This process produces a thicker, harder surface with a rich, medium-grey appearance.  More importantly, it creates a more durable wear surface in the piston bores, with increased resistance to abrasion and corrosion over the entire external surface of the caliper.

Please note, this brake kit is made to order, so may have a leadtime of approximately 7-10 working days.

  • Hi I'm looking for new brakes for my MX5 97 NA. I'm turbocharging it and to register it and make it road legal It will be used on the street mostly but some trackdays per year. I will need to upgrade the brakes. In the rear I think NB sport brakes is enough (to register it). What about brake bios valves? I came across these and I wonder what the biggest difference is between the dynalites and midilites, the price difference is not that huge.

The Midilite calipers are radial mount and supplied with 300mm discs. Dynalites are lug mount and supplied with 280mm discs.

  • will these fit behind 16x8 et20 wheels

Probably, but to be 100% sure, it's best to download and print out the template above and try it behind your wheel.

  • Hi. I've 15 inch Rota grid drift wheels ET20. Will these fit? Cheers

Best option would be to download and print out the template above and check for wheel clearance.

  • Hello, I am interested in your big brake kit but i'm wondering... How or where can we find the rotors when the ones provided with the kit are worn out ? Can we find rotors with same dimensions made by others brands ?

The discs used in this kit are found on the VW Corrado G60 and can be sourced from all major brake disc manufacturers.

  • HELLO, I WAS WONDERING ARE THESE IN STOCK OR IS THERE A LEAD TIME, JUST TRYING TO JUDGE IT FOR AN UPCOMING TRACK DAY IS ALL, NO PANIC

Yes, we currently have plenty of these in stock. Delivery is normally within 48 hours.

  • Do you offer the same kit for the rears, and does that have a separate hand brake caliper? Thanks

The rear big brake upgrade is here The handbrake mechanism is built into the caliper. We could design a rear setup with seperate handbrake mechanism but the cost would be higher. Email sales@freakyparts.co.uk and we'll go through some options.

  • is the third option bar, were you can select multiple colors, the pot caliper paint? kind regards, David

The colour list is what the braided hoses are supplied in. The calipers are supplied either black or more recently grey

  • Hi, what is the difference between the dynalite and powerlite wilwood calipers? Which would you recommend for a turbo mx5 that will see track work?

The Powerlite caliper is smaller and more suited to lightweight kit cars rather than heavier road cars. They run smaller pads than the Dynalite and Midilite options so comparative pad life would be reduced.

  • What diameter pistons do these Dynalites have?

These calipers are supplied with 35.1mm (1.38") pistons. However if you wanted something smaller or larger, let us know and we can supply.

  • What's the difference between the dynalite and the midilite calipers?

The main differences are the Dynalites are lug mount and fitted with stainless steel pistons and no dust seals, the Midilites are radial mount and fitted with aluminium pistons with dust seals.

  • Will this kit fit on a standard 2005 Mk 2.5 which currently has the standard 251mm brakes installed or are extra parts required? Thank you!

Hi. This kit comes complete with everything to bolt to the car, nothing extra should be required.

  • Will this kit fit under a 15x7 wheel?

Yes the kit should clear 15x7” wheels.
