A customer contacted us recently looking to upgrade his VW Golf Mk5 GTI brakes.
He’d already purchased a set of Brembo calipers from a Porsche 911 996 TT and wanted them to work with his car.
We suggested instead of going for the usual Mercedes 350mm discs which need modifying to fit, a good match would be the front discs from an Audi S3. 345x30mm.
They’d take more abuse, fill the space behind the wheels better, they bolt straight onto the Golf hub and with the option for a direct 2 piece upgrade available in the future they seemed like the perfect option.
So he shipped us a caliper and pads, we sourced a hub and set to work.
